    “We know that we have come to know Him, if we obey His commands.” (1 John 2:3)

  • “Go and make disciples... baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19)

Why Be Baptized?

What is the meaning of Baptism?

  • Christ died for our sins... He was buried... and He rose again. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

    For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ. (Colossians 2:12)

  • For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. (Romans 6:4)

  • God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

When should I Be Baptized?

  • Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household. And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household. Even at that hour of the night, the jailer cared for them and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his household were immediately baptized. (Acts 16:31-33)

Why baptism by immersion?

  • “As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water.” (Matthew 3:16)

  • Examples:

    John the Baptist Baptizing in the Jordan River

    • Matthew 3:5-6, Mark 1:4-5, Luke 3:3
      John the Baptist preached a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, and many came to him in the Jordan River to be baptized.

    • The Disciples of Jesus Baptizing

      • John 3:22 and John 4:1-2
        Jesus’ disciples baptized people during His ministry, though Jesus Himself did not baptize.

    • The Day of Pentecost

      • Acts 2:38-41
        Peter preached, and about 3,000 people were baptized after repenting and accepting the message of Jesus.

      • Saul/Paul’s Baptism

        • Acts 9:17-18, Acts 22:16
          After encountering Jesus on the road to Damascus, Saul (later Paul) was baptized by Ananias.
