water baptism

Every person who has believed in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation should be baptized. A believer is someone who has realized that their sin separated them from God. They have given up all efforts to reach God through good works or religious activity. They have concluded that Jesus Christ’s death on the cross for their sins is the only thing that can bridge the gap between them and God. If you have come to this point in your spiritual journey, then you are ready to be baptized.

“We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.” Romans 3:22

Why Be Baptized?

When you are baptized you are following Jesus' example.

Jesus... was baptized by John in the river (Mark 1:9)

You are following Jesus' command to go and make disciples and baptizing them.

“Go and make disciples... baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19)

It demonstrates you are a believer.

We know that we have come to know Him, if we obey His commands.” (1 John 2:3)

What is the meaning of Baptism?

It illustrates Christ's death, burial, and resurrection

Christ died for our sins... He was buried... and He rose again. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ. (Colossians 2:12)

It illustrates my new life as a Christian.

For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. (Romans 6:4)

Baptism doesn’t make you a Christian.

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Why Be Baptized By Immersion?

Jesus was baptized that way.

“As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water.” (Matthew 3:16)

Every baptism in the Bible was by immersion. (an example Acts 8:38-39)

When should I Be Baptized?

As soon as you have believed in Jesus.

Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household. And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household. Even at that hour of the night, the jailer cared for them and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his household were immediately baptized. (Acts 16:31-33)
